The faithful gathered to worship at the cult of De Burgh once again!

This though was not just an ordinary concert but also a meeting of the Official CdeB Internet Mailing List. Members had braved the English Channel (or even worse, Heathrow Airport) to get to this concert!

The concert didn't start until 8pm but some of the group had arrived as early as 1pm! Naturally they formed the front of the queue! As other people arrived they joined in. This was my first chance to meet Astrid although I had known her for four years through the list and IRC chat rooms. There were many names that I could finally put faces to.

The "gates" were supposed to open at 6.30 but at around 5.45 the stewards unexpectedly started taking tickets and letting people in - even though the sound check was still going on! We charged to reach the stage but when we got there they tried to send us back - obviously someone had made a mistake. Eventually we waited just inside the arena until they were ready for us.

We got excellent positions around the stage. Many of the group were on the front row, almost within touching distance.

We settled down to eat our picnic and wait, but unbeknown to most people there was a surprise in store................................
