The Dales The Yorkshire Dales are one of the most beautiful parts of England. They are a series of deep valleys created by rivers cutting through the Pennine hills. The landscape that has been produced is spectacularly rugged with sharp drops and waterfalls while the fields and hillsides are usually green and fertile. Fields are usually full of sheep. The main industry here apart from agriculture is tourism as the area attracts many visitors who want to walk, explore the history of the area or simply relax in the tranquil atmosphere. Despite the number of people that visit every year there are still many places to get off the beaten track. |

"The Buttertubs". So called because the shape is supposed to resemble a buttertub. It's actually a swallow hole where water has found a weakness in the rock and eroded it away. |
