Travel
I've always enjoyed seeing different places whether they're
in the UK or further afield. There is nothing better for
making you appreciate the diversity of different people and
cultures that exist around the world. Sometimes it makes
you appreciate what you have at home, but often you learn
that there are other ways of looking at things that are just
as valid as your own.
The other thing that you find out is just how friendly and
welcoming people can be. It would be nice to think that
visitors to Britain went away thinking that about us but
sometimes I have my doubts.

I have been lucky enough to visit a number of other
countries.
In 1985 I went to the former Yugoslavia. I was lucky
enough to see Sarajevo before the terrible wars. It was a
lovely city and the Roman Catholic cathedral was beautiful.
I hope that it has survived.

In the next few pages I want to tell you a little more about
some special places I have been to.
Greece - because it special to me. I think that it is the
most wonderful place in the world.
Canada - because that was a "once in a lifetime" holiday
and the country is so beautiful.
England - well, it is home after all! We have countryside
and culture as impressive as anywhere in the world here.
